Bray Wanderers secured a vital 2-0 victory over Treaty United on Friday night, a result that lifts them to second in the First Division table. Two goals in a decisive four-minute spell at the Carlisle Grounds have virtually sealed the club's place in this season's play-offs.

Endri Mustali broke the deadlock in the 66th minute, finishing off a move created by Tyreik Sammy. Just moments later, Richard Ferizaji doubled the lead with a powerful 15-yard drive into the roof of the net. Substitute Ethan Cheese, who had only just entered the fray, provided the assist for Ferizaji's fifth goal of the campaign.

Key changes pay off

Manager Ian Ryan made two changes to the side that won away to Kerry the previous week, with John Bilili Sesay returning from suspension to start in midfield. The game turned on a triple substitution made immediately after the opening goal. Sammy, Mustali, and McCormack were all withdrawn, with Cheese, Kelly, and Achara coming on. The fresh legs made an instant impact, with Cheese setting up the key second goal.

Tyreik Sammy highlighted the quality of the decisive pass. "His slide rule pass released Richard Ferizaji to blast in his fifth goal of the season," Sammy said.

Match details and context

Bray had created the better chances throughout. Jack Brady in the Treaty goal smothered early efforts from Sammy and Ferizaji, while Dean O’Shea saw a 20-yard half-volley cleared in the first half. The win extends Bray's winning run to two games and sees them climb above UCD, who lost heavily to Cork City. The Seagulls now sit third in the standings with 47 points from 31 matches, a position strengthened by their superior goal difference.

With key players Alain Kizenga and Kyle Tucker still out injured, the squad depth was tested and delivered. The result sets up a key top-of-the-table clash next Friday away to UCD, who currently occupy second place. View the full schedule on our fixtures page. Top scorer Max Murphy, with eight goals this term, will be looking to add to his tally in that key encounter.
