Finn Harps Struggle with Understrength Squad
Finn Harps are currently facing a tough spell in their First Division campaign, having lost their last five matches and only managing one victory in the past twelve outings. The team is also dealing with an understrength lineup as several key players are unavailable.
Teenager Odhran McHugh, son of recently departed manager Kevin McHugh, has been absent from recent games due to his participation at the Super Cup NI event. However, he is expected to return for this evening’s match against Bray Wanderers at the Carlisle Grounds.
Young Talent Set to Return
McHugh made history in May when he netted a late equalizer against Longford Town, becoming the club's youngest goalscorer at 16 years and 20 days old. This season, he has played 21 times and was also on the scoresheet during a 3-1 loss to Cobh in June.
In addition to McHugh, Finn Harps interim head coach Patrick McEleney is likely to have Lukas Doherty back in contention for the match. Doherty, who played alongside McHugh with County Derry at the Super Cup event, has been a regular in Northern Ireland’s underage squads over the past couple of seasons.
Despite facing an understrength lineup and recent poor form, Harps will be hoping that the return of young talent like McHugh can help turn their fortunes around against Bray Wanderers.
