Paul Heffernan expressed his pride in Bray Wanderers after a vital 1-0 away victory over Kerry FC on Friday night. The win at Mounthawk Park, secured by a seventh-minute goal from T. Sammy, prevented a long and disappointing journey back to the Carlisle Grounds.
"I'm proud of Bray Wanderers’ vital away victory over Kerry FC," Heffernan told reporters. The three-and-a-half-hour drive home would have felt far worse without the three points.
The result provides a significant boost for the Seagulls, who now sit third in the League of Ireland First Division with 47 points from 31 games. Their recent form has been mixed, with one win, two draws and two losses from their last five outings, a sequence that includes a 1-1 draw with leaders Cork City and defeats to Athlone Town and Longford Town.
Bray's next challenge is a home fixture against ninth-placed Treaty United on 18 September. The current league standings show Bray 21 points behind Cork City but firmly in the promotion conversation with a positive goal difference of 15.
